African quizzes: for fun and against the clock
I was delighted to see so many African quizzes on Funtrvia. The site claims to be:
the world’s largest and oldest trivia website, running as an online community since 1994! with 1,000,000 trivia questions in 10,000 categories, created by over 30,000 different visitors to this site, from over 100 countries around the world. Over 1.4 million registered members and 6,000,000 guests have played a quiz.
Wow! The history quizzes are actually a really good launch pad for further research. Try the ones on African countries that no longer exist or Former African Kingdoms. There’s even one dedicated to the life and career of “South Africa’s Superstar”, Charlzie Theron.
Or what about this one:
I give you the name of the year of the coup and the name of the coup maker. You give me the country.
This could almost double up as the quiz of Immovable African Heads of State.
Geography buffs can find more African edutainment at Sheppard Software. Try African capitals Level 3.
Finally, after you’ve spent hours studying/playing with the above links why not pit yourself (and your friends) against the clock and see if you can name all 192 United Nations members in just 10 minutes.
